The purpose of this course is to deepen the understanding of intersectionality as a theoretical framework and methodological tool for organizational behavior scholarship. This doctoral seminar is of interest to students who have a reasonable level of familiarity with diversity, equity, and inclusion in organizations. Drawing on theory and research in psychology, sociology, feminist and critical theories, we shall explore in greater depth how intersecting systems of race, gender, immigrant status, sexual orientation and social class shape workplace culture, norms, processes, and behaviors. Students will read current and foundational theories and research of intersectionality in organizations, and seek to advance research in this area through synthesizing and generating new insight on the topic.
