Course Description
Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2020-2021.
The overarching goal here is to provide students with a better understanding of what constitutes good quality research in ILR. The course privileges an inductive qualitative approach, arguing that such an approach is likely to result in higher quality research that is significant. But quality is a function of many different things, and a key issue is understanding your own research philosophy and your location in the different paradigms that guide our multidisciplinary approach to research. Relevance and writing are important issues as well. In addition, we will examine selected qualitative research merthods (as these are not covered in other research methods courses within ILR), but again, these methods flow from an inductive approach. We will also spend some time on the challenges of publishing, reviewing, and dealing with reviewers, since this will help you with BOTH quality and productivity.
