Major changes and repeated crises in the global capitalist economy have led to greater impoverishment and inequality within countries around the globe. How and why has this happened? Who are the winners and losers?What strategies are governments, communities, and labor organizations undertaking to reverse these trends?This course focuses on the fundamental changes that have occurred in capitalist economies as financial actors have gained greater power over government policies and Main Street companies.It examines the strategies pursued by these actors and their impact on the sustainability of companies and the economic stability of low wage workers and their families. It compares government and civil society responses to these crises across different countries
