Advanced Strategic Analysis

This course uses the case method to introduce the fundamental conceptual models, analytical frameworks, and financial analyses, essential for strategy formulation. Students will decide where to compete, and how to sustain a competitive advantage over rivals, by analyzing cases and applying rigorous financial methods to solve key challenges encountered at each stage of the business lifecycle: entry, funding, organic growth, acquisition, turnaround, and exit. Students will confront critical issues such as: What business should we be in? What products or services should we provide? Which customers should we serve? In which geographic areas? The course will provide students with the conceptual models, analytical tools, and financial methods they need to formulate and implement strategy at each stage of the company lifecycle. The class will enhance performance as general managers and consultants.

  • *Open to Johnson Students Only* Add/Drop Dates: Johnson Students – August 20th at 8:00am thru September 5th at 4:00pm. Non-Johnson Students: September 2nd at 8:00am thru September 5th at 4:00pm. You may add or drop a first-half class after September 5th with permission of the faculty. A late fee of $100.00 will be charged for each add or drop transaction. If you are dropping after September 26th you will also receive a "W" on your transcript in addition to the late fees. There will be no enrollment from a wait list into a class if you have a time conflict or will put you over your maximum allowed credits. Non-Johnson students may add themselves to the waitlists during their enrollment periods, however Johnson Students have priority into the classes and non-Johnsons will be enrolled: 1) IF seats are still available after Johnson students complete their enrollment period and 2) IF the instructor allows.
