Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2019-2020.

This course is designed for AMBA and two-year residential students who want to apply the knowledge they are gaining to real business problems. Over the spring and summer largely fortune 500 companies are solicited for projects that students can work on during the fall semester. The course uses video conferencing as well as two days or more of on-site time with the clients in Ithaca or at the company to the extent possible. The projects are done by teams of students, typically four to five, supported by both the faculty and an adviser. You should expect to spend on average 6-10 hours per week on the course including the class time. Class meetings once per week with the entire class and each team meets for an hour each week with the faculty responsible for advising them on their project. Lecture material covers the approach to structuring complex problems, conducting analytical work and developing conclusions and recommendations. Students teams are expected to communicate regularly with their clients and to have at a minimum an interim and final presentation. The projects will build on concepts and knowledge built in the core courses and immersions as well as other fall electives. The projects may be in the broad areas of strategy, operations, finance, technology, and marketing. There is a required MSP boot camp for the course with 0.5 credits. Those dates are shown in your class schedule. The last day of the boot camp is all day on Friday, September 6th when you are meeting with your company on the project.
