How do networks of informal relationships (also termed "social capital") affect work outcomes? This course will examine work and employment from a social network perspective, thus investigating how actors are embedded in broader systems of social relations and interactions. The class will also investigate how network structures and exchanges may shape access to resources and provide public signals, thus affecting key organizational outcomes. Topics include how individuals' social connections may shape labor market outcomes, performance, innovation, and influence, among others.
