In this course you will learn about REIT's through the lens of a lodging REIT commencing with the Initial Public Offering to its finality through a Hostile Takeover.  The course is led by an insider, the former CEO of a lodging REIT acquired in 2018.  From the IPO  with 10 hotels to its peak of 50 hotels, you will learn about the growth story from a public company perspective.   You will follow the final transaction from the board's initial decision to consider a takeover offer, through the various counteroffers, to the ultimate closing of the transaction.  Readings, guest lectures, and a first-person account are at the heart of the course.

When Offered Fall (weeks 8-15).

Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: HADM 3210 or HADM 4200.

Satisfies Requirement Satisfies HADM or Free Electives for SHA students.

Comments Graduate students should enroll in HADM 6213.
