  • Pre-requisites: permission of instructors. Course Description: Using readings, reflections and trainings, this course will support and train students who are peer mentors for first year CALS undergraduate students. Through this course, peer mentors will develop a range of mentoring skills including: listening and responding empathetically to student concerns; helping students to identify needs and find resources for those needs, modeling good study and time management skills; communicating effectively with other students and adults; and reflecting on and articulating goals and experiences. Every other week, peer mentors will discuss a topic in the classroom, then organize resources or an event around that topic, and reflect on the previous weeks experiences.
