The course brings together students, Cornell faculty, and other distinguished guests for informal substantive engagement around a wide range of issues and endeavors: intellectual, cultural, artistic, scientific, moral, social, and political. Twelve meetings are held in the living room of one of the three instructors, each of whom is North Campus Faculty-in-Residence, and feature a guest interlocutor who is typically a member of the Cornell faculty, scientist, scholar, artist, or public figure. Guest interlocutors speak informally about their work, careers, or special interests. The conversational format is designed to encourage interaction among students and between students and the featured guest
