Course objective: Prepare students to design effective and sustainable breeding programs and to implement modern selection tools. Course topics:

Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: courses in statistics, genetics, plant breeding, and quantitative genetics or permission of instructor.

Outcomes

Be able to predict response from selection in complex breeding programs.
Understand the dynamics of populations under selection.
Be able to use best linear unbiased prediction (BLUP) for both conventional and genomic selection.
