Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2015-2016.

The Salem Witchcraft Crisis of 1692. Even though a myriad of books have been written about this endlessly fascinating episode in American history, many aspects of it remain unexplored. After reading some of the latest scholarship on the subject and viewing contemporary depictions of it, students will focus on interpreting and analyzing original documents covering some of the lesser-known aspects of the crisis (for example, the involvement of large numbers of people from Andover, Mass.). Students will have opportunity to contribute their final work to the Salem Digital Archive on the web.
