Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2015-2016.

This course addresses the component, specification and integration aspects of RF wireless systems, including synthesizers, mixers, filters, amplifiers and data converters to enable eventual full-duplex, multi-access cognitive radio link design.  The content will reside mostly in the SIMULINK level instead of the circuit implementation.  Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) standards will be considered in detail in the design phase.  Existing standard protocols will be selectively introduced including NFC, AM/FM, TV, Bluetooth, Z-wave, Zigbee, Wi-fi, GPS and RFID EPC.  Unconventional RF protocols including ultra-wide band (UWB) will also be briefly introduced.

When Offered Fall.

Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: ECE 2200/ENGRD 2220 and ECE 3030.
