Course Description
Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2015-2016.
A course designed for non-majors with a background in science. Lectures provide the technical background needed to understand recent scientific papers as well as the controversial personal, social and legal implications of modern genetics.

Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: BIOMG 1350 or two majors level biology courses.

Comments Some of the information presented overlaps with the current BIOMG 2800. This course is not recommended for students who have previously taken BIOMG 2800.
Outcomes- To gain a basic knowledge of core concepts and methods in Human Genetics and Genomics.
- To be able to discuss intelligently the ethical, legal and social implications of the growing use of Genetics in medicine and forensics.
- To be able to read and interpret articles in recent research literature and to use human genetics databases.
