This course explores the dynamic social, cultural, economic, political, and art historical forces and influences that define and re-define contemporary art and artists in the twenty-first century. The objectives of the course are to help B.F.A. students develop a keener understanding of issues in contemporary art and introduce first semester Art majors to the intellectual community and aesthetic environment of a university art department and Cornell at large.
