This course provides step by step instruction on how to effectively lead group fitness classes, and, prepare you for the AFAA Primary Group Exercise Certification. Topics covered will include class design, music interpretation and instructor skills, along with theoretical and practical application of exercise principles. By the end of this course, students will be able to lead a 40 minute fitness class in a choreographed or interval style which includes warm up, cardiovascular conditioning, group strength training, core conditioning, and cool-down. Successful completion of this course qualifies students to register for the Aerobic Instructor Apprenticeship, offered in the spring semester. Enrollment in this class includes membership privileges in the Cornell Fitness Centers for the semester.
