HD 6660

Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2014-2015.

This course focuses on the general role played by the biogenic amines (dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin), neuropeptides (corticotrophin releasing hormone, opiates, oxytocin, vasopressin), genetic polymorphisms occuring in these variables, and early experience in determining individual differences in emotional behavior, and in emotional risk and resilience. The manner in which experience enduringly affects neurobiological functioning via epigenetic processes is considered. The manner in which the resulting neurobiological functioning influences the encoding of subsequent experience is explored as the basis of stability in emotional behavior. Materials are provided electronically at no cost.
