Course Description
Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2014-2015.
Introduction to contemporary issues of farmworkers in the United States. Examines issues related to unauthorized immigrant workers, farmworker demographics, farmworker access to health services, labor concerns, farmworker needs, and integration into new home communities. Will include guest lectures by faculty members from throughout the university currently engaged in related research.

- Substantially increase their abilities to conceptualize and discuss the challenges that farmworkers confront in their everyday lives, and how they overcome obstacles to their well-being.
- Construct a framework to understand contemporary issues within the farmworker community.
- Improve their communication skills, learn how to state their opinion, questions their assumptions and tolerate differing opinions, through participating as members of working teams that develop extension materials targeted to farmworkers.
