Co-led by industry leaders and guest speakers, class examines how design empowers and communities to thrive in the face of emerging policies, business models, and operations.  Engage in community fieldwork and explore how concepts of environmental psychology, behavioral economics, sustainability, and LEAN can be used to optimize facility design.

Permission Note Enrollment limited to: 20 students. Preference will be given to graduate students and senior level students; others are welcome to attend if there is room.

Comments Class discussion panels and group projects limit the maximum number of attendees.

Outcomes
  • Generate effective change by design- that is responsive to people, communities, practices and policies.
  • Learn about the pressing issues on design and policy. Synthesize information, and give feedback effectively in professional meetings.
  • Work effectively in teams. Demonstrate sense of responsibility and reliability, and ability to take initiative.
