First part of a two-part introductory course. Students learn the fundamental grammar and vocabulary of Classical Chinese by analyzing and translating short passages from early sources.

Permission Note Students who have working knowledge of the Chinese script from another language (e.g. Japanese) may be able to take the course.
Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: completion of 2nd year Chinese or permission of instructor.
