This course links theory and practice through a study of issues of contemporary art. The course is an opportunity for new B.F.A. students to explore issues and questions of contemporary art and culture that have particular relevance for students and artists in the early 21st century. The objectives of the course are to help B.F.A. students develop a keener understanding of issues in contemporary art and introduce first semester/first year Art majors to the intellectual community and aesthetic environment of a university art department and Cornell at large.
